Dining in Detroit...with the Southern Hospitality Restaurant Group

The summer is coming to an end and the back-to-school offers are beginning. Seldom Blues, Detroit’s premier jazz restaurant and supper club, is celebrating the back-to-school season with the “Food for Thought” program during the month of August. Students who are headed back to college this fall, and dine at the restaurant this month, will receive a free entrée with the purchase of any entree.

Parents can bring their children into Seldom Blues to enjoy a high quality meal before they head to college. They say that a bright mind begins will a healthy meal, and it is a great opportunity to bring your child in to celebrate their journey off to college.

Parents and their college bound children can dine on an exceptional menu item like the Double Cut Lamb Rack with balsamic rosemary roasted fingerling potatoes, wilted spinach and lamb demi glace; or they can try the newly added Stuffed Lobster Thermidor, a large cold water tail stuffed with tender chunks of lobster meat, folded in a rich sherry cream, fontina and Parmesan sauce, baked until bubbly and served with balsamic rosemary roasted fingerling potatoes.

Our new menu also features Smoked Barbeque Beef Brisket, served on a bed of creamy corn and asparagus orzo; Slow Roasted Pork Shank, served with buttermilk mashed potatoes, sautéed broccolini and batter-dipped fried leeks; Buttermilk Pecan Crusted Breast of Chicken, with roasted corn spinach hash, finished with a maple demi glace; Porcher’s Bone-On Ribeye, with buttermilk whipped potatoes, wilted spinach and baby carrots; and Fennel Encrusted Tuna, served on a Mediterranean salad with a red wine vinaigrette.

Diners can get started with one of Seldom Blues’ new items on the appetizer menu including the Chilled Mango Bisque, with jumbo lump crab and fresh mint; Vegetable Tempura; Calamari; Tempura Lobster Tail with a trio of sauces and warm Thai salad; and Smoked Salmon Carpaccio, with micro green salad, tossed lime caper vinaigrette, Borsin cheese and crostini.

We also offer a number of new salad options now like the Mozzarella Caprese, with fresh mozzarella, vine-ripened tomatoes, basil, sea salt, pink peppercorns and a light drizzle of virgin olive oil and balsamic syrup; Tropical Chicken Salad, with baby spinach, sliced grilled chicken, fresh mango, strawberries, toasted macadamia nuts and fresh mango vinaigrette; and the Strawberry, Mango & Spinach Salad with baby spinach, fresh mango, strawberries and toasted macadamia nuts tossed in fresh mango vinaigrette.

During August, parents  who purchase an entrée will receive their child’s meal for free. The offer is good for one student per family. Guests should mention the “Food for Thought” program to their waiter to receive their complimentary meal.
