Day-to-day activities will never be the same for Detroiter Lisa Howze, who gave her two-week notice in July 2006 at a well paying position with Detroit Edison to follow her dream of becoming a financial motivational speaker.

           
To fulfill her dream Howze attended the 2006 Power of Voice Speaking Summit’s three-day seminar in Los Angeles California where she and a few Detroiters traveled to learn more about how to earn a living at the art of public speaking.


Entrepreneurs follow dreams on journey to success

After listening to a teleconference earlier this year, Howze received an e-mail about the summit from Norma Thompson, a native-Detroiter and Founder/CEO of Speakers Etcetera. 

           
Speakers Etcetera is a Los Angeles-based speakers bureau and development company.  Open-You must be open to many ways of looking at life.

           
Some things to ponder:

           
Wisdom: Work smart vs. hard.  What are your natural gifts or talents?

           
Energy: What is your energy you bring to your speech?

           
Rest and Re-fuel:  Take trips, travel.

           
Attorney Roxanne Wilson, the first African American woman to appear on Donald Trump’s hit reality show, “The Apprentice,” and make the final four, was there.


Wilson decided to attend the Voice Summit Seminar due to the overwhelming number of speaking requests she has received since appearing on “The Apprentice.” 

           
Wilson graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. She says the experience at U of M was great, and she appreciates the community.

           
Currently, Wilson speaks on several topics relating to women’s identity in the corpor

           
Each workshop session was full of valuable information that anyone from levels one to four in a speaking career was able to walk away with something of value.
