Honoring mother’s legacy keeps her striving for excellence
An assistant manager at Comerica’s McNichols & Meyers banking center in Detroit, Lykesha Moore knows a thing or two about serving the public and it’s a role she enjoys.
“My job duties include establishing and building relationships with existing and new customers, providing coaching and motivation to staff members, and creating an exciting and positive work environment for my staff,” said Moore, who joined Comerica in 2001.
“One of the things that I enjoy most about my job is having the opportunity to meet new people on a daily basis and being able to assist those people with their needs.”
Moore’s areas of responsibilities include sales, operations, human resources, and customer service.
“A typical week at work is not typical at all,” says Moore, a graduate of Cody High School who earned a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications/public relations from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and a master’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.
“Depending on the challenges that are presented, I basically structure my daily work load around those challenges. One thing that I utilize in order to stay on track is a daily objective plan. Because the majority of my day can be spent interacting with customers, I have to ensure that I plan out my work day so that I can accomplish my other goals and objectives.”
Away from the office Moore enjoys charity walking events including Walk2gether Michigan, the UNCF Sole Steppin Walk, and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Moore’s commitment to work and the community is fueled by the strength she receives from her family.
“My family has played an important role in my overall success by making sure that we all spend time together eating, socializing, and simply enjoying one another’s company,” said Moore, who honors the memory and legacy of her mother, Lillie Moore.
“One thing that inspires me is being a positive role model for my younger family members such as my cousins, nieces, and nephews. I know that they look up to me so it is important that I try to lead by example and also try to make the right choices in life.”
