WILLIAM CROUCHMAN JOINS PANCAKES & POLITICS PANEL

DETROIT, MI – March 7, 2008 - The Michigan Chronicle announced today that Chairman William Crouchman from the Macomb County Board of Commissioners will appear as a panelist at the Pancakes & Politics breakfast series on April 18, 2008, at the Townsend Hotel.

Chairman Crouchman will unite with previously announced panelists, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, and Detroit City Council President Kenneth Cockrel, Jr. to address the topic of- “The Economy, Regionalism, and Race Relations”.

“This is a pivotal time for the metro-Detroit area,” said Hiram E. Jackson, CEO of Real Times Inc., parent company of the Michigan Chronicle. “And though the media plays an important role in covering issues facing our community, we have to come together to have a candid discussion about solutions. That was the objective of Pancakes & Politics from its inception and we are honored to host the leadership of our region at this event for the greater purpose of helping to unite the community in which we serve.”

This forum is breaking tradition by moving its venue to Oakland County, as the Detroit Athletic Club has been the venue of choice for the past two years. Overall it will present attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the stimulants, obstacles, and next steps for the region—its one not to miss.

Hosted by the Michigan Chronicle, Pancakes & Politics has attracted sell-out audiences over the past two years. Its popularity is due to its focus on highlighting a variety of current and pressing business, civic and political issues. Following the event, all of the Pancakes & Politics forums air on WWJTV/CW50 during the Michigan Matters Sunday program, hosted by Carol Cain, Editorial and Community Affairs Director-WWJTV/CW50 and columnist at the Detroit Free Press.

The hard hitting series kicks-off on Thursday, March 20 at the Detroit Athletic Club with Forum One —“Putting a Face on the D to the World”. This forum will address the media’s responsibility and commitment to selling the City of Detroit and its surrounding communities to our residents and moreover the world at-large. Come meet the decision-makers of the highest circulated newspapers in our region - Kevin Haezebroeck, Senior Vice President of Operations and Michigan Publisher, David Hunke, Chief Executive Officer of the Detroit Media Partnership, and Sam Logan, Publisher of the Michigan Chronicle.

“With this forum we are rolling up our sleeves to address the issues, dispel the misconceptions, and bring together politicians, philanthropists and business leaders from across Southeastern Michigan to affect change,” said Logan.

Pancakes & Politics brings together a successful media partnership between the Michigan Chronicle, WWJTV/CW50, Crain’s Detroit Business and WWJ Newsradio 950.

Chrysler Corporation and Strategic Staffing, the presenting sponsors of the forums, is joined by other sponsors including HAP, Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn LLC; UHY Advisers Inc., Compuware, National City Bank, Quicken Loans Company, Wayne State University and the Detroit Regional Chamber.

Mark your calendar for the Pancakes & Politics Forums Three and Four at the Detroit Athletic Club, scheduled for May 15 and June 19, respectively; topics and panelists to be announced.

Individual tickets can be purchased for $65 per forum, which includes a six-month subscription to the Michigan Chronicle. Sponsorships are also available. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.michronicleonline.com or call 1-877-979-5500.
