Detroit-Windsor tunnel negotiations halted
In light of the turbulent climate in within the ranks of the City of Detroit government (i.e. the text messaging and Synagro Sludge scandals), the Windsor Council has opted to halt negotiations on the $65 million sale of the Detroit half of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel until the dust settles.
According to the Windsor Star, Windsor Chief Negotiator Clifford Sutts stated that proceeding with negotiations and completing documents at this time could cause Detroit’s Council to reject the deal based on reasons totally unrelated to the documents themselves.
Fachon Stinger Ousted by Fox 2
Fox 2 News Anchorwoman, Fanchon Stinger, has recently been relieved of her duties due to her connection with the Synagro Sludge contract scandal, a deal which would have paid the Houston-based company almost $47 million per year to haul and treat sewage waste. Apparently, she was hired by the company to do marketing and promotions, but stated that she later returned the money because she decided not to the do the work.
Reports also indicated that Stinger and her involvement with developer Rayford Jackson, who was a consultant for Synagro and is also married with children, was called into question some time ago. Jackson is being investigated by the FBI as to whether or not he has any connection to bribery deals that were made to individuals in city government.
“She seemed to have it all,” said Fox 2’s Scott Lewis, “good looks, personality, intelligence and a great work ethic.”
Stinger issued a statement in her own defense on Tuesday. Visit www.michronicle.com to read her statement.
In Other Synagro News…
In a recent interview with Hot 102.7’s Reggie Reg, Councilwoman Monica Conyers stated that she not hiding out because she is being investigated by the FBI for involvement with the Synagro Sludge scandal. Rather, she has been off work recovering from womanly surgery and will return to work when her doctor releases her to do so. She also wanted to let the media know to stay off her porch and stop knocking on her windows!
