The Steady Steppers Dance Institute will convene for their second annual dance extravaganza, the 2008 Las Vegas Weekend Jam II, Oct. 3-5, in Las Vegas.

Dance Steppers from more than 15 states

KAMMAL SMITH and Larry Collins, founders of the Steady Steppers Dance Institute, have been busy preparing for the second annual Las Vegas Weekend Jam.

The Steady Steppers Dance Institute will convene for their second annual dance extravaganza, the 2008 Las Vegas Weekend Jam II, Oct. 3-5, in Las Vegas.

The event will be held at the Tuscany Suites & Casino located at 255 E. Flamingo Rd. approximately a half of a mile from the famous Las Vegas Strip. The weekend will feature a festival of urban dancing that will include Detroit Ballroom, Detroit Bop, Indy Bop, Philly Bop, Baltimore Hand Dancing, Cleveland Hand Dancing, Akron Hand Dancing, DC Hand Dancing, Latin Hustle, “Soul” Line Dancing, Salsa, and the Chicago Step.

Attendees from 15 to 20 states are expected to participate in three days of dancing and dance workshops. This year’s title is “Viva Las Vegas Weekend Jam II.”

Larry Collins, president of The Steady Steppers Dance Institute, said the event allows individuals to view different urban partnered dance art forms, different “Soul” Line Dances and to actively dance with people from cities across the nation united through dance.

“A key feature at this event is the dance workshop offerings,” said Collins. “We have dance workshop offerings in Detroit Ballroom, Detroit Bop, ‘Soul’ Line Dance and Chicago Step taught by some of the most respected and sought after instructors in their respective dance art forms today.”

Detailed and registration information for the 2008 Las Vegas Weekend Jam II can be found on their website at www.VegasWeekendJam.com.

The Steady Steppers Dance Institute, based in Detroit, was founded in 2003 by Collins and Kammal Smith. The organization’s dance of choice is “Chicago Stepping” but they are also proficient in other urban ballroom partnered dance art forms.

Steady Steppers offers twice weekly Chicago Stepping instructional classes in Detroit, have five Stepping instructional DVDs on the market, and since 2003 have provided over 32 Chicago Step instructional workshops in 17 cities across the nation.
