Senator Barack Obama
In the continuing saga that is the presidential campaign, the media continues to show us that the racial divided is still an underlying force in our society. In a recent airing of 60 Minutes, Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain were both interviewed in preparation for the upcoming debate that is scheduled to take place this week.

McCain was interviewed by Scott Pelley, and was asked various questions about his stand on a number of issues and what his plans were for resolving those issues in the event that he is elected president. While the reporter was very diligent in asking his questions, the rapport of the two men seemed very relaxed and friendly.

On the other hand, Obama, who was interviewed by Steve Kroft, not only had to answer questions about his stand on the important issues but he also had to defend how his blackness is affecting his votes in the polls. Are people just backing him because he’s black? Are people not backing him for the same reason? It was a totally different type of atmosphere for Obama
