It is a holiday where we stop and come together as family and slow down the year for a moment and give thanks to those who love us and nourish us all year. In relationships we know that there are special times, like birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day and the like, to let our loved ones know how we feel. Let's try to turn this around this Thanksgiving. Let us, the ones who have scored the trifecta of screw-ups (we lied, we cheated, we were untrustworthy) to have a new thanks on Thanksgiving: Thank God she didn't dump my a**.
When you have someone who loves you no matter what, it is not because she is dumb or she can't do better and is afraid of leaving. She stays with you because she is waiting for you to be the man she knows you can be. Women have this amazing sense of what is truly inside of their men and if they don't see them being greater later, they will tell you "later" sooner. The many of us who have women who do not throw us out after the screw-up trifecta see the future in us.
We, as men, take this for granted until the light goes off and we decide that we are through with the games and are ready to become real men. Not just boys over 21 years of age, but men. Let's take this Thanksgiving and thank the woman in our life for staying by us no matter what stage of manhood you are in. Thank her for sticking through thick and thin, for holding you down and being the better person. The person you could never be if she did all the things you have done to her.
Let's just take Thursday and say to our woman, "This Thanksgiving I am giving thanks for you giving me chances to be by your side". I bet you this will make that turkey tastier, the Nuvo colder and the sweet potato pie sweeter.
Happy Thanksgiving, you knuckleheads, and love to all the women who love us. Thank you for standing by us.
