Afro puffs mounted on top of a body adorned by a plaid multi-colored blouse and bell bottoms may not seem too appealing in the 20th century, even though plaid is the new black this fall, local malls are getting interactive and allowing teens to travel through vintage styles while learning about current back-to-school fashions.

It hides behind high school desks, in our homes, prison cells and church pews and is spreading throughout Detroit. If you are reading this the growing problem may not affect you personally, but possibly others you know. Illiteracy in metro Detroit is a growing epidemic that Pro-Literacy Detroit is working hard to combat.
