This past Friday evening bolstered many prominent events Bravo Bravo at the Detroit Opera House, the opening of the Kentucky Derby, and the Tigers versus Twins debacle. But nothing compared to the Michigan Chronicle's first annual Men of Excellence Honoree Reception. Held discreetly at the Colony Club in Fox Town, honorees, their guests, sponsors, and the like gathered to celebrate each honoree's contribution to the region, the community, and the progression of African American men in Southeastern Michigan. The evening, hosted by Rhonda Walker, awarded each man with a commemorative plaque, reminiscent of the Michigan Chronicle's special commemorative Men of Excellence section, and engraved cuff links. Each honoree was further adorned with gifts from Sheago Cosmetics, Al Wissam Exclusives, Hot Sams, and Monte Cristo Cigars.
