Drug/Alcohol Testing

Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC), owner and operator of the Detroit People Mover (DPM), is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to (1) conduct an annual financial audit and (2) provide drug/alcohol testing and occupational health/safety services.  Proposals are due 1100 am on 20 January 2011.

Eastern Michigan University (EMU), a metropolitan university located in Ypsilanti, Michigan serving over 23,000 students, seeks an experienced leader to serve as Executive Director of Alumni Relations.  This position will be responsible for development and execution of a strategic plan to increase alumni involvement in the University.   The Executive Director will supervise alumni involvement and recognition programs, events and activities. .Other duties will require the Executive Director to   plan and implement on and off-campus events, oversee written and electronic communications,  organize committee-based alumni volunteer activities, develop and provide leadership to the EMU Alumni Board of directors and various other organized alumni committees and interest groups. . The Executive Director will direct and manage the work of the alumni relations staff. And direct the assistant directors of alumni relations in implementing a series of events to involve alumni with the life of the university. (These will include on-campus, public events such as Homecoming, affinity-based gatherings, and off-campus events such as an annual alumni receptions in various locations outside of Michigan.) . The Executive Director will oversee departmental procedures, communications, reporting, and budget planning. This position reports to the VP of Advancement and will be expected to take a leadership role in planning, implementing and evaluating advancement initiatives that help to further the overall strategic priorities of EMU, including coordinating alumni relations priorities with fundraising priorities.

Required Qualifications:  1) Bachelor's degree required. 2) Minimum of five years of development and/or alumni relations experience, including event management responsibility. 3) Excellent managerial skills; including planning, goal-setting and evaluation, and public presentation. 4) Strong communications skills to interact effectively and build relationships with co-workers, volunteers and high-level donors. 5) Familiarity with technology in a friendraising and fundraising environment. 6) Knowledge of promotional writing and publication design as they relate to donor and volunteer communications. 7) Strong ethical and professional standards and the ability to motivate and inspire a commitment to the University's mission in both staff and volunteers. 8) Ability to travel is required.
