LANSING (WWJ) – President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney hold their third and final debate tonight — and you can hear it live on WWJ Newsradio 950.
WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick is reporting that tonight’s debate is one of the last chances for the candidates to impress huge numbers of voters — and both Mr. Obama and challenger Mitt Romney want to appear in command.
Republicans basically say there’s an image issue going on here.
“The current president’s had a number of years to form an image and I think people are starting to now form their opinions and ideas about who Mitt Romney really is versus the way he’d been portrayed in the past,” said Senate Republican leader Randy Richardville.
On the Democratic side of the aisle, Detroit Senator Coleman Young, Junior says on the issue of the economy, he believes the president is turning things around.
“I think if you look economically, we are improved,” Young told Skubick. “We’re not where we need to be, but we’re growing and we’re getting better. I mean (the) unemployment rate is 7.8%, the lowest it’s been in years. We added, I think, 110,000 — maybe a little bit more in terms of jobs. I think that’s a very good sign the economy is showing signs of life.”
Skubick says on the debate score card, it’s one apiece. The tie-breaker tonight.
