Christine Beatty Files For Bankruptcy

ATLANTA (WWJ) – The mistress and former top aide to former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has filed for bankruptcy in Georgia.

Christine Beatty is $390,000 in debt, and according to The Detroit News, she owes $60,000 in taxes, $220,000 in mortgage and other debt, as well as $100,000 to Detroit for the text message scandal.

The News says most recently Beatty was living in a $375,000 Atlanta townhouse and was earning more than $102,000 a year as a business consultant. Her income recently dropped by two-thirds to just $35,000 a year.
