HEALTH ALLIANCE PLAN (HAP)
As the Associate Vice President of Quality, Credentialing, and Disease Management, Vernal Brand leads HAP’s patient safety, quality and performance monitoring activities, including the National Committee for Quality Assurance accreditation.
Dr. Brand serves as a HAP Healthcare Equity Ambassador to eliminate health disparities, and presents her findings at national conferences.
Prior to joining HAP, Dr. Brand was Director of Utilization/Case Management for Molina Healthcare Plan of Michigan and Vice President of Medical Management with OmniCare Health Plan.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Oakland University; a master’s in health services administration from Central Michigan University; and a doctorate of Philosophy in Organizational Psychology from Walden University. She’s a member of the American Psychological Association PSI CHI Honors Society and is certified by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc.
Dr. Brand partners with children, parents and educators to combat bullying. She received the Henry Ford Health System Focus on People, Shadow of a Leader, and Diversity Heroes Awards.
Dr. Brand is married with one daughter and is a member of the Apostolic Church of Auburn Hills.
