WHY in the world should I pay for the student loan of some guy who works on wall street or makes 200K as a lawyer for some big corporation??! He probably has more than $100K in debt from some fancy school. Why should HE GET A BREAK? I got student loans to pay, too, but I am blessed that I can manage it. I am more worried about our young folks who need to pay for college NOW. Why not use that money and figure out a way to make the first couple years FREE, or something, for those young people who cant afford it, or afford to rack up big loans? Go ahead and help out people who are social workers, or doctors serving areas with no doctors, but it's a waste of money to give everyone a break, without considering how much good they do for society. I bet if you looked at who this plan really helped, you'd find that Detroiters, once again, would be helped the least. I am not interested in helping rich doctors, lawyers or wall street bankers by paying off their loans. We gotta think SMARTER -- and not just come up with unrealistic ideas to grab headlines and talk, talk, talk about pie in the sky promises. Enough talk already.
