The realization is also that Unemployment is STRUCTURAL in nature, not a function of a "cycle." The US economy is driven by CONSUMPTION, not production, and with little disposable income nothing will change, it will only worsen. The largest and wealthiest banks on the planet are getting free money, at 0% interest from the FED, Trillions, and investing it in U.S. Treasurys at a 4% ROI. Why should they risk this free money? In addition, credit card, student loan, and late/insufficie nt fund bank fees have SKYROCKTED? Don't yall get it? The banks are screwing the economy, Black, White, somewhat rich, middle-class, working class or poor. Thanks to Bush and Obama. When the public understand they have some control over where and how they spend their money and act in their and their communities best interest, the economy will grow, otherwise, stick a fork in it. Elected officials from either party won't lift a finger.

Americans of all political stripes are finally starting to realize what many others, including myself, attempted to explain to them in 2008, when the economy crashed. The "crash" did not result from a "business-cycle " but resulted from one of the greatest thefts and wealth transfers in the history of the world, sponsored by the legislative acts and absence of equitable/moral compass of by BOTH parties. The public is beginning to understand that the "1% ers" own BOTH parties, that politicos are by and large self-centered and self-absorbing, carrying little about the commonwealth. This is not new news nor entirely a bad thing. The millions ordinary citizens waste on campaigns (and broken promises) is better spent on forming community development banks. No one from either party talks about why banks are not lending for economic growth, despite receiving Trillions and paying billion $$ bonues after TARP.
