			<description><![CDATA[While I enjoyed parts of this article, I think that the writer has several points incorrect. First of all, it was far more than just blacks that went to see "Lady". It opened at arguably the #1 theater in San Francisco, The Coronet, at the time. The Coronet was anything but a black cinema house. The top first run movies of the day opened there and continued to do so into the 1990s before it was torn down for urban development. It was in a primarily Jewish and Asian neighborhood, The Richmond, which demographics are still pretty much the same. And the film opened in the U.K. and across the European continent. It was shown at the Cannes film festival, for heaven sakes. As far as the other Motown movies, each has left it's mark. "Mahogany" is emulated in many music videos still. And "The Wiz", though not one of my faves either, has become a treasured film by young black audiences possibly partially to it being Michael Jackson's only featured role. And she won her 3rd Golden Globe nod.]]></description>
