One of the main indicators of a good actor or actress is believability. That’s why the greats, such as Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep, hit a home run every time. They are totally convincing in every role, no matter how different one role is from another.

Legendary bassist/composer Stanley Clarke latest project, entitled “The Stanley Clarke Band and released June 15 on the Heads Up International label, a division of Concord Music Group, has essentially allowed him to venture into new levels of experimentation, utilizing his arsenal of bass instruments.

Vocalist Darron Moore, born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Detroit, has been on the music scene for a substantial number of years. In fact, for decades, using Motown and other classic R&B sounds as a foundation.

Moore’s current group, Darron Moore and the 14 Floor, also dates back quite a few years, although there have been numerous personnel changes. The other members of the latest incarnation of the group are vocalists Carmel Brown, St. Paul and Kiahyo.

In addition to singing their own material, including that heard on “Love’s Flight Reflections,” they do a tribute show to Luther Vandross.

The group got their name from Moore’s father, Leroy Moore, their manager at the time, who had an office on the 14th floor of the Renaissance Center.
