Ferndale’s One-Eyed Betty Resturant takes Top Honors at 2nd Annual Burger Brawl More than 2,000 burger lovers piled into Fairway Packing at Eastern Market Saturday for the second annual Detroit Burger Brawl. Attendees had an opportunity to taste large sized burger samples for several different restaurants including Birmingham’s Prime 29 and Detroit’s Rattlesnake Club just to name a few.
Attendees, along with a list of food writers from local media had an opportunity to tastes burgers and watch has the finalist had a burger cook off show down, which including specialty buns and customized meat blends to determine this year’s winner.
In the end, chef Emmele Herrold of One-Eyed Betty's took the crown by stuffing doughnut dough with bleu cheese, cream cheese, sautéed onions, mushrooms and jalapenos. Along with a blend of short rib, chuck and aged brisket to form the patty, topped with heirloom tomatoes, arugula, and garlic aioli. "We're famous for our burger and we're famous for our doughnuts... So that's what was on our winning burger," said Herrold after raising the Burger Cup.
