Nothing says technology quite like the “Iron Man” franchise. And as such, the Blu-Ray is packed with cool features.
Now available as a three-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with digital copy, as a limited edition two-disc DVD with digital copy, or as a single disc DVD, fans of “Iron Man 2” can finally get to relive their favorite moments of the film.
Robert Downey Jr. (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Tropic Thunder”) reprises his role as Tony Stark (and Iron Man)
Now that his superhero secret has been revealed, Stark’s life is more intense than ever. Everyone wants in on the Iron Man technology, whether for power or profit. Turns out Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) wants revenge, which means Iron Man must again, take to the skies, but this time, he has help. The film co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and the always delightful Samuel L. Jackson.
The Blu-Ray featurettes are in HD and include deleted scenes, “Illustrated Origins,” delving into the backgrounds of characters, Nick Fury, Black Widow and War Machine. An alternate opening, concept art gallery, theatrical trailers, “Creating Stark Expo,” and more.
So yeah, we’re moving towards a future where all the great stuff is showing up on Blu-Ray. There’s even an exclusive peek inside the Marvel Super Hero Universe through the S.H.I.E.L.D. Data Vault.
Marvel Studios is deftly building a cinematic world that will one day, if the company has its way, rival the complexities of the Marvel comic book universe. 2011 should be a huge year for Marvel. With long-in-development properties finally seeing completion, such as “The Avengers,” “Thor,” and “Captain America,” the “Iron Man 2” home video release sets the stage for the continued growth of superhero films.
