Sherman Hemsley’s ‘Brother’ To Reveal DNA Results Proving His Right To Part Late Actor’s Estate

EL PASO, Texas — A man who says he is Sherman Hemsley‘s brother is expected to reveal the results of a DNA test to a judge in Texas in an effort to prove his claim for a share of the late actor’s estate.

Richard Thornton, of Philadelphia, challenged the validity of Hemsley’s will, which names the actor’s longtime friend, Flora Enchinton of El Paso, as sole beneficiary. “The Jeffersons” star died of lung cancer July 24.
Thornton is scheduled to appear at the probate court in El Paso on Friday.

Hemsley was born in Philadelphia but lived in El Paso for the last 20 years of his life. Court documents indicate his estate is worth more than $50,000.
The actor’s refrigerated remains remain at an El Paso funeral home amid the estate dispute.

Shooting Reported Near White House

WASHINGTON — D.C. police say shots were fired just blocks from the White House (pictured) following an armed robbery attempt.

Police say it happened before 6:30 a.m. Friday near Lafayette Square in Washington.
Police say three suspects, including at least one with a gun, approached two people and tried to rob them.
D.C. police spokesman Araz Alali says the victims began following the suspects in their car, and that one of the suspects fired shots. No one was injured.
Alali says no one was immediately in custody.

Boy, 11, Fights Off Pitbulls To Save 5-Year-Old Sister’s Life

When two pitbulls rushed through the hole of a chain linked fence and attacked an 11-year-old boy and his 5-year-old sister in Dublin, Ga., big brother took charge.

According to 13 WMAZ-TV[1], Maleik Carr (pictured) and his sister Jalia walk through a backyard along the fence to get to the school bus stop each day. But on Monday morning, they were met by the two angry dogs.
“The brown and white dog ran to the other side, jumped out of the fence and the black one did too, and they started snapping at Jalia. So I ran over there started kicking them away from her, and they bit me. And I told Jalia to run,” says Maleik.
She dashed across the street as her big bro bravely battled the two pitbulls. When they started biting on his legs, he took his sister’s toy chair and began beating them with it. He battled them long enough to hop over his own fence where his sister met and then rushed him to the hospital.
