Barely a week goes by without me getting a request to do an interview with mainstream media about something regarding President Barack Obama. It began during the 2008 presidential election and peaked not long after the Big Chief won and the country was entranced with the idea of a post racial America. This was the concept that since the country elected an African-American president, we had gotten past the issue of racism, that we were somehow all color blind, Kumbaya, We are the World, Don’t Worry Be Happy and all that stuff. Well, that didn’t last too long.

Newly appointed Judge Debra Nelson has set the date for George Zimmerman‘s second-degree murder trial, according to USA Today^[1].

On Wednesday, Judge Nelson decided with defense attorney Mark O’Mara and pressed prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda that June 10th would be the date that Zimmerman’s trial would begin, with O’Mara reportedly responding afterward:

“June makes sense because it gives us a target date,” O’Mara said shortly after the hearing. “I have no idea between now and then if we’ll be ready. We’re going to try to be ready.”

Attorneys for Zimmerman and the slain Trayvon Martin will reportedly meet on Friday “to discuss discovery issues, subpoenas for Trayvon’s school records, and motions by the news media to keep the facts of the case public,” according to published reports.

Controversial funnyman Katt Williams (pictured) was cuffed by the LAPD early Wednesday morning at a Hollywood club hot spot for suspicion of a gun violation, reports TMZ^[1].

Reportedly, police were summoned when someone at the Supper Club called in a complaint about a patron brandishing a gun. When police officers arrived at the club, all fingers pointed to Williams as the possible suspect who had been waving a gun around.

When officers searched Williams, they did not discover a weapon on him but did discover one his vehicle.

Williams, along with two of his cohorts, were taken in to custody for questioning. The 39-year-old performer was later released, along with one of his entourage members and no charges have been filed against them. One of the men, however, remained incarcerated for charges stemming from a traffic warrant.

The weapon that was found in Williams’ vehicle was unregistered and police are trying to find its owner.
