Sign NewsOne’s Petition To Fight Back Against Police Brutality

Police Brutality against blacksFor much of Black America, police brutality induces paralyzing fear because it often translates to public execution or assault on the streets with little-to-no chance of legal repercussion.

In NewsOne’s Investigative Series into Police Brutality[2], we compiled painful, though unsurprising statistics on the rate of murder and beatings in Black America at the hands of authority figures.

In data researched and compiled by the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement[3], Black Left Unity Network, and U.S. Human Rights Network, the picture of how often — and fatally — Black people are victimized by police in this country becomes startling clear. Below are the details of the Black men and women who have been murdered at the hands of police so far this year:

With Mitt’s Tax Backlash, GOP Is Reaping What They Sow

Mitt Romney vs. harry reidLast year, when President Barack Obama held a press conference to announce that he had requested a copy of his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii to settle conspiracy theories that he was born to a virgin in the jungles of Kenya (or was it to an Islamic polygamist in the desert?), he explained that given the challenges the nation faces, now isn’t the time to be distracted by such utter silliness. As he put it,[1] we’ll never manage to rise to these challenges ”if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts. We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.”

Boom-Boom-Clap! Pooch Hall Returns To BET’s ‘The Game’

Pooch HallFans around the country were thrilled when the gorgeous and talented Pooch Hall announced on Twitter that he will be returning to BET’s “The Game” for a sixth season, reports AlwaysAList.com.[1][2]

BET announced in May that Hall, who plays Derwin “Ding Dong” Davis, would not be returning to the hit series. He made it clear he really didn’t want to leave, but there was a scheduling conflict with his new Showtime series, “Ray Donovan.” Co-star Tia Mowry Hardrict  made her exit to allegedly focus on  her Style series “Tia and Tamara” with twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housley.

Speaking on the news with “The Breakfast Club,” Pooch said his return all hinged on BET:

“I can’t say what’s going on with BET, but Pooch Hall is ready,” he said. “I’m just going to tell the fans [to] have faith. It’s being worked out. I want to come back and don’t be surprised if I do come back.”

Yes, it is a dance with roots in Williams’ hometown of Compton, Calif., where the Crip street gang choreographed the moves back in the 1970s. Since that time, the gang affiliations connected with the moves have long been lost on people worldwide who see it as nothing more than a cool dance.
