Obama, Romney Release Ads Targeting Working-Class Voters

CHICAGO — The presidential candidates are criticizing each other in new television commercials aimed at winning working-class voters who could help swing the election, pitting Republican Mitt Romney’s (pictured) wealth against the loss of American jobs to China on President Barack Obama’s (pictured) watches.

As Romney dispatched running mate Paul Ryan to kick off a three-day bus tour in the critical battleground of Ohio, Obama began running an ad in the state trying to use his GOP rival’s own words against him.

It’s the campaign’s first spot using Romney’s comments that 47 percent of voters pay no income tax, and believe they are victims and entitled to government assistance. The 30-second ad also points out that Romney paid just 14.1 percent in federal taxes last year on $13.7 million in income and refuses to release his returns before 2010.

2 Marines To Be Court-Martialed For Urinating On Dead Taliban Fighters

WASHINGTON — Two Marine non-commissioned officers will be court-martialed for allegedly urinating on the bodies of Taliban fighters last year in Afghanistan and posing for unofficial photos with casualties, the Marine Corps said Monday.

The charges against Staff Sgt. Joseph W. Chamblin and Staff Sgt. Edward W. Deptola are in addition to administrative punishments announced last month for three other, more junior Marines for their role in the urination episode.

The disclosure in January of a video showing four Marines in full combat gear urinating on the bodies of three dead men led to a criminal investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service as well as a Marine investigation of the unit involved, the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, which fought in the southern Afghan province of Helmand for seven months

Stripper Jailed After Texting Ex-BF Pics Of Their Infant In Toilet

A Florida woman has been jailed for one year and ordered to serve three years probation after posing her newborn son in a series of horrifying photos, The Smoking Gun reports[1].

Brittany Lester (pictured) was sentenced on Tuesday after being convicted of child abuse charges. The photos, which were taken last August, show her then five-week-old being held inside of a toilet, sitting in a dresser drawer and in other dangerous poses.

The St. Petersburg Police Department learned of the photos from the infant’s father who said Lester texted him the images after he left the motel where they, along with the infant and their 3-year-old, were staying.

The 22-year-old man reportedly told cops that he had broken up with Lester, but they were trying to be civil for the sake of their children.

1-Year-Old Child Shoots Himself In Hand With Mom’s Gun

A 24-year-old mother (in Clarksville, Tenn.) is charged with aggravated child abuse after her 1-year-old child shot himself in the hand.
According to a news release from the Clarksville Police, the shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday. The gun had been left on a coffee table. When the child was unattended, he grabbed it and accidentally shot himself.
Deshana Lisenby (pictured) was booked into the Montgomery County Jail at 7:00 p.m. She was released on $5,000 bond.
The child was being treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
No phone number for Lisenby was listed in the phone directory.

Black Women Rally Against Voter ID Laws

WASHINGTON — Deidra Reese isn’t waiting for people to come to her to find out whether they are registered to vote.

With iPad in hand, Reese is going to community centers, homes, and churches in nine Ohio cities, looking up registrations to make sure voters have proper ID and everything else they need to cast ballots on Election Day.
“We are not going to give back one single inch. We have fought too long and too hard,” said Reese, 45, coordinator of the Columbus-based Ohio Unity Coalition, an affiliate of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation.
Reese is part of a cadre of Black women engaged in a revived wave of voting rights advocacy four years after the historic election of the nation’s first Black president.
