The Michigan Women's Golf Association State Championship will be held at The Medalist, 15701 N Dr. North, Marshall, MI 49068 (269-789-4653, www.themedalist.com), Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21. It is open to all amateur female golfers. The entry deadline is Wednesday, July 10, 2013 and the fee for members is $126 for two rounds of golf, cart, range and buffet lunch both days. Non-members will pay $146, but receive a $20 certificate good toward membership or entry into another 2013 MWGA competition. Full-time students under the age of 22 will pay $98. For an additional $20 interested golfers may enter closest-to-the-flagstick, chip-in and skins contests. Enter online at www.mwgolf.org.
Two Divisions are anticipated with 4 flights (2 flights in each Division). Pairings will be in threesomes and are done by index on Saturday and by gross score on Sunday within each division. Div 1 (Championship): CR-74.2; SR-136; Yds-5763; Div 2: CR-70.4; SR-128; Yds-5169. There will be a 10:00am shotgun start on Saturday, July 20, and a 9:00am shotgun on Sunday, July 21. Without a current USGA Index, golfers will play at scratch.
Darci Stocker of Flint, MI was the 2012 MWGA State/Division 1 Champion and Ruth Wilson of Chandler, AZ, the Senior/Division 2 winner.
GAM Women's, Senior Women's and Junior Girl's Honor Roll Points will be awarded to the 2013 Champion (150), Runner-up (90) and other top 15 scorers, including ties from the Championship flights.
